Mexico City. The FON Project, an initiative that supports and strengthens community organizations and networks in Mexico and Colombia to prevent and eradicate gender-based violence, participated in the XVI Regional Conference on Women, adding its voice and commitment to ensure that Latin America moves forward on the care agenda.
During the convening, the FON team reaffirmed that the right to care must be real, sustainable and guaranteed for all women and diverse populations. This intervention reinforced its commitment to feminist sustainability as a key pillar to transform living conditions in communities and promote gender equality.
With its experience in grassroots work and in supporting women’s networks and activists, FON brought to this regional space the knowledge it has accumulated in facilitating local initiatives that make visible and defend sexual and reproductive rights, access to justice in cases of gender-based violence, and the strengthening of care networks.
“The FON Project believes that advancing the care agenda means advancing democracy, social justice and feminist sustainability for Latin America”, Carolina Manrique, FON Project Manager Colombia, stated during the Conference.
This participation also made it possible to consolidate synergies with other organizations and international actors to promote public policies that recognize and guarantee care as a fundamental right, placing women and diverse communities at the center.

Feminist Opportunities Now (FON) Project
FON contributes to the eradication of gender-based violence worldwide through flexible funding. The Feminist Opportunities Now (FON) project aims to strengthen feminist movements by providing grants, particularly to small, unregistered organizations. With a budget of 7 million euros, FON also offers long-term mentoring and tailored training. Additionally, the project includes an action-research component to ensure the expansion and sustainability of these approaches.
