CIRCLE Wing, established in 2019 in the Batticaloa district of Eastern Sri Lanka, has been actively working to address, prevent, and respond to gender-based violence. A significant initiative by the organization was the launch of the district’s first GBV hotline, which provided crucial support to 30 survivors during the pandemic lockdown.

The organization has also extended emergency assistance to approximately 1,500 women-headed households and children during both the COVID-19 lockdown and the nation’s economic crisis. These efforts are ongoing, with a focus on ensuring long-term sustainability for the affected communities.

In addition to emergency support, the organization has provided livelihood assistance to 150 GBV survivors and offered continuous legal support in cases related to maintenance, divorce, and other urgent needs.

Advocacy campaigns focused on GBV prevention and response have been central to the organization’s efforts, although limited funding has presented challenges in expanding and strengthening advocacy networks.
