Founded by Ms. Gayathiry Nalinakanthan in 2020, E-Wing: Independent Center for Empowering Women and Children is a feminist organization dedicated to addressing the critical issues surrounding women’s empowerment and Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) in the Eastern province of Sri Lanka.
With a focus on creating lasting social change, E-Wing takes a multi-pronged approach at the community level to uplift and support women and children facing systemic challenges. The organization works tirelessly to provide a safe, inclusive space for marginalized groups, ensuring access to essential services and promoting their rights.
By engaging with communities, E-Wing strives to enhance stakeholder services, making sure that women and children receive the support they need to rebuild their lives, free from violence and oppression.
Through a combination of advocacy, capacity building, and outreach, the organization addresses key issues such as gender inequality, abuse, and social exclusion.
E-Wing’s work includes empowering individuals by offering practical resources and educating the community about their rights.
The organization runs campaigns that advocate for women’s rights and the prevention of SGBV, raising awareness about these critical issues. It also engages with local stakeholders to build their capacity in responding to SGBV, improving service delivery, and ensuring the integration of social inclusion practices.
At the core of E-Wing’s mission is a commitment to social justice, advocating for the rights of women and children and working toward a society where everyone can live with dignity, safety, and equality.
The organization’s efforts to create meaningful, long-term change reflect its vision of a world where women and children are empowered and their voices heard in the fight for equality.
