Sisterhood Initiative (SI), formed during the aftermaths of the Easter Sunday Attacks in Sri Lanka, is a group dedicated to understanding and addressing issues within the communities in Sri Lanka, particularly those of Muslim women.

The organization creates a safe space for young women from all communities in Sri Lanka to come together to share experiences, engage in curated discussions and find a sense of community among each other.

Through this work, SI recognizes Sri Lankan Muslim women as key stakeholders in society with decision-making power, while fostering leadership through volunteerism and promoting the protection of their rights. SI advances this mission by conducting advocacy and awareness campaigns on discrimination, producing research grounded in women’s lived realities, supporting survivors through legal and psychosocial services, and lobbying for legal reform in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

Additionally, SI facilitates intra-faith and inter-faith dialogues and network-building among women in Sri Lanka through interactive dialogues held online and offline and by hosting knowledge-based workshops and capacity-building training.
