The Red for a Feminist Fiscal Policy aims to influence the incorporation of a gender, feminist, and intercultural perspective into the fiscal policy implemented by the Mexican State. Concurrently, it seeks to integrate the fiscal component into the promotion of agendas for eradicating gender-based violence, developing care policies, and ensuring the economic, social, cultural, and agrarian rights of women in Mexico. The overarching goal is to impact the lives of women in all their diversities by dignifying their work, practices, and bodies, while providing autonomy and decision-making capacity. It also ensures that all forms of social organization will be recognized, considering that women weave communities with a high identity value based on their ethnic and cultural belonging.

In this regard, we aim to place on the public agenda the need for the collection of public resources and the stages of the budgetary cycle to consider the multiple gaps faced by women in all their diversities in the country so that, through the implementation of fiscal policy as a whole, these gaps are reduced rather than deepened.

Expectations of Participating in the FON Project

Through our participation in the FON project, we expect to have a common diagnosis of the situation of fiscal policy in Mexico from a gender perspective. Following the diagnosis, we will develop solid and politically viable recommendations aimed at incorporating a gender perspective throughout the policy-making cycle. Finally, we hope to influence the implementation of the recommendations built collaboratively in various time horizons: immediately, in the short term, and in the medium term.
