Mexico City – Under the #FeministSustainability campaign, the FON Project supported the presentation of the report “And That Bright Star Is You… Disappearances of Women in the State of Guerrero and Their Links to Other Systemic Crimes”, prepared by the Mexican Forensic Anthropology Team (EMAF). The event took place on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the Casa Refugio de la Memoria, located at Citlaltépetl 25, Hipódromo Condesa, Mexico City.
This space became a moment of memory, truth and dialogue, where expert voices addressed the reality of femicide, disappearance and trafficking of women in Mexico. Through the report, EMAF highlights cases in Guerrero and reveals how these disappearances are connected to structural crimes marked by violence, impunity and social inequality.
Recent reports indicate that the disappearances of women and girls in Guerrero are strongly linked to trafficking networks and femicides perpetrated by organized crime, evidencing an interrelation between multiple forms of systemic violence.

During the event, specialists offered critical analyses of the local and national situation, shared testimonies, and discussed proposals to strengthen mechanisms for search, punishment, truth and reparation with a gender perspective. The report represents a key tool to drive demands for justice and public policies that effectively respond to this human rights crisis.
FON welcomed the presentation of the report as a necessary step in building alliances among human rights organizations, academia, feminist activism and institutional actors, seeking a comprehensive approach to address the root causes of violence and the systematic disappearance of women.
